As defined in Keeping Children Safe In Education, safeguarding and promoting the the welfare of children means:
- Providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge.
- Protecting children from maltreatment whether that is within or outside the home, including online.
- Preventing impairment of children's mental and physical health or development.
- Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care.
- Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.
The CE Academy aims to ensure that:
- Appropriate action is taken in a timely manner to safeguard and promote children's welfare.
- All staff are aware of, and fully understand their statutory responsibilities with respect to safeguarding.
- Staff are effectively trained in recognising and reporting safeguarding issues.
- A whole-school approach to safeguarding (ie safeguarding culture) is clear, and that safeguarding underpins all relevant systems and processes with a continuing commitment and ongoing vigilance.
